  • Places to Eat in NW Indiana

    Mood: peachy happy

From our last post I was talking about referring some other restaurants Toni and I love. If ever in a mood for for real good Indian food and you happen to be out in Merrillville, IN feel free to stop by Taste Of India located at 761 E 81st Ave Merrillville, IN 46410   I will say if you stop in for lunch you can get a taste for all their dishes at the lunch buffet(10 am - 3 pm)  and then they close up, so they can prep for Dinner which then they reopen their doors at 4:30 pm - 9:30 pm for dinner.

Now if you happen to be out and about in Munster, IN and you are in a mood for Mediterranean food, then feel free to stop by Mishkenut, located at 221 Ridge Rd Munster, IN 46321 I can say for sure if ever needing energy, ask for their turkish coffee, which is strong and good in both my gf's opinion and mine as well. It is as well hard to just pick out a dish here to recommend here, it would just depend on one's

Well this is a bit a mixture here, most may have a taste for seafood and are well aware of Red Lobster, which always seems to be packed, or maybe Joe's Crab shack, which is a hit or miss on being packed. There is olive garden where they have such lovely Italian food.

Well for now I may come back and edit this post as my train of thought is not all there on what I wanted to post on the subject of food.

  • Finally Up to date on Xanga

Current mood: Happy Times, Life is in some forms and manners Great

Note: Do know I started writing this at about 3am cst since I do not remember if it marks the time I ended or started my post.

Hey everyone who may be passing by, maybe people from the past who love to make fake accounts and follow (people with no lives), maybe new people want to see who I am, and so on. As I noticed we all have enemies out there unfortunately.

I wanted to update everyone as since my last post, I have finally gone through my entire archive on here to see what should and what should not be protected, sorry just as I go through life, my past is under protective setting. If for any reason I make friends with others on here and I feel you are trust worthy to enter my mind and soul in friendship then I will add you to my protective list to view my past and so on.

Well it is July 10, 2012, and I have not written in here officially since Tuesday, March 31, 2009 a few day after meeting the most beautiful woman in my life, Toni. I will say this, "I shall not be having heart aches anymore since I have found that one true soulmate in my heart" It has now been 3 years that we have been dating. I will admit there are some ups and there are some downs to our relationship, but what relationship does not have that. If there is one, then I do not think it is real, because as some I know will say no relationship is perfect, as we all grow stronger from both our mistakes in life.

Toni and I have grown strong in the last few years learning of another more and more, being there for one another. If we have problems we try to talk them out with one another, as the only way through tough times whether it be my fault, her fault, or maybe someone else frustrating us, we just either see another in person hang out, go some where and talk, if we cant, then we pick the phone up sometimes, or talk on the internet to try and solve some issues if we can.

Since the last 3 yrs have passed basically we have found that we like a lot of the same things, which is a plus for both of us. One topic i will bring up is that of food, sushi to be specific. In 2001 in Bloomington, IN based on on a dare, I tried what was known as a California Roll, I will note I had never heard or was curious of sushi since trying it. Most thought I would have made a stupid face or what not. Majority of people today, do not give different experiences a try, there for they do not know they will like it unless they actually try it. Well that day I gave it a try and liked it. Well many years went by, I forgot what year exactly it happen, but myself and a buddy, Rick had gone to a Chinese buffet in Schererville, Indiana If I am correct this might be the location of the place 1640 US Hwy 41 Schererville, IN 46375 Most on yelp will either put it down, but one review has given it a true rating. It is about $10 a person unless the price has gone up since then, but I will say it may not be like OCB (old Country Buffet) or even like my favorite place out in Michigan City, IN Ryans Buffet which owns OCB, but it is decent place. For $10 you can get Chinese and others flavors in food, as well if new to sushi, they have some sushi rolls or pieces you can give a try. So whatever year if was, Rick took me there to kind of get a feel for sushi, and I got to tell ya for first time giving it a try, I realized from what he said you do not want to eat too much at first, but it was good so was the Chinese food I had. I will admit I use to be a hardcore Orange Chicken fan, but with the help of Toni I learned to drop a favorite and try other things, I really love lemon chicken now with Chinese places and whatever else I may try.

I want to say sometime in I believe 2008 or maybe it was 2009 not sure can't remember, but Rick took me to Little Tokyo in Highland, IN 1850 45th St
Munster, IN 46321  Well for first time I had at a restaurant a selection of sushi. We say in front the chef and I tried many different type of sushi, at the time I can say that I liked how Unagi (water eel or some will just call it eel) tasted. I tried octopus(Tako) and squid(Ika) as well, but then to me it was a weird texture like rubber but not, to this date in 2012 I have come to like squid as a delicacy, and sometimes octopus when I go out and eat sushi with my one and true sushi partner for life, Toni. Since then I sometime this year I want to say took Toni to Little Tokyo, but to be honest only reason we will not eat there again is due to the poor service we received toward the evening and due to the prices there. They are a bit pricey to some than others, since you are purchasing each roll rather than paying one price for all you can eat, like that of other places. So we shall not be returning, I know Rick and his lady have better luck as they go on a day that well they have better service than what we did. To each person out there give it a try see if you like it, but don't go just due to one bad time we had, I feel this way, because we had a bad time, well others may have a good time. I will mention a good Sushi place with all you can eat sushi in Matteson, IL is A.Fusion which actually is Asian Fusion 4601 Lincoln Hwy, Matteson, IL 60443 http://www.afusiononline.com  they do try to keep their page up to date as they can. Here you can get a selection from Chinese, Japanese, and Thai food, as they have the all you can eat sushi, lunch buffet, or even sit at their bar. I will say Lunch is 11:30am - 2:30pm for their buffet as I have never seen them to have a dinner buffet, as well that is the time for any lunch meals you have as far as all you can eat sushi and the hibachi as well. With there food you get what you paid for, in other words you get a great amount of food for what you paid for, unlike other restaurants out there, is why I love this place.

As of Friday 07/06/2012 Toni and myself went back to A.Fushion and some reason I know I said we would to hibachi, but I did not think we made it in time, just did sushi instead for dinner, come to find out lol, we were time, but we got sushi instead. We are a bit known there by couple of the staff there as it is our frequent place to eat happy .  Well As of that day our waitress for the first time mentioned to us that we are not VIP members there. One of our favorite waitresses there as well have maybe two or three there lol, well they told me for the last two years going their, at the quantity I can eat, once three place of susi maki rolls, they never seen anyone eat as much as I have lol, and made me honorary sushi king there, but it is not official as there is no competition there, but my receipts shows it in a way. I will say to anyone looking to do all you can eat sushi for lunch the price is $20.99 before taxes each person. They do have rules like if one person gets sushi and the other does not, you can not share. What you order please finish as they do not like those who waste food (sushi wise) if new to it and trying it I suggest asking them about what you may or may not try and that you are new to sushi, because usually when new they will charge for each piece left over on your plate.

One thing I will note for all you can eat sushi places as I forgot to, make it easy for the waiter or waitress, take a note pad and paper with you, or sticky note pad of paper and something to write with, or if they allow it write on the table cloth(not cloth, but the white paper type f they allow you to that is, make sure to ask first before disrespecting and doing as I have seen done before). This way when they come they can see your items of selection, as well you will remember what you ordered, in case their is ever a mistake with your order as you go. This method as well helps you to remember what you tried and what you have not tried from the lunch or dinner menu, and if it is only one menu no lunch or dinner, then single menu I guess we can call it.

Another place I can mention if out in Chicago, IL for sushi or all you can eat sushi that Toni and I know of is Sushi Sai 123 N.Wacker Dr. Ste 125 Chicago, IL 60606 http://sushisaionline.com/  You can either order online or eat in, as well they have their deal the last time we were there of all you can eat sushi. We last ate there I believe in 2010 or 2011 when we were both doing Dell contracts in Chicago. Just looked at their site and they still have the al you can eat sushi special for $19.99 each person. There sushi is good as well, but since then have not been back to see if anything has changed.

Well for not it is 3:45am I will be ending this post and next post I will mention some other restaurants we love, and recommend some dishes that we liked that others may love as well happy

Thanks again for dropping by and catching up on things.

HAMMOND | When you ask how many bouts sibling boxers Tiffany and Jimmy Perez have fought, Jimmy offers the most accurate estimate he can give.

    "A lot."

"When you first start out, you try to get in as many fights you can for the experience," Jimmy said. "Then when you get more established, you start looking for the big tournaments and maybe do a 'show' fight here or there."

Tiffany and Jimmy have both been boxing competitively for almost five years. But it isn't like they never threw a punch (or kick) before that.

"We've always been in the martial arts combat sports," Tiffany said. "Our dad (Jim Perez Sr.) ran a karate school.

"One day I said I wanted to do boxing. So they let me try it."

In 2005, Tiffany was a Junior Olympic National Champion.

This weekend, the Hammond residents are competing at the Golden Gloves tournament at St. Andrews Gym in Chicago. It's the first time that Tiffany, 17, and Jimmy, 26, are boxing in a tournament together.

    And likely the last.

"I plan on going professional after this," said Jimmy, a light heavyweight who has advanced to the latter and championship rounds of previous Golden Gloves tournaments, but is still looking for his first title.

"I was planning to go pro last year, but (Tiffany) convinced me to stay amateur for another year so we can do (Golden Gloves) together."

For Tiffany, a bantamweight, this will be her first Golden Gloves.

"I'll be moving up to the women's division next year," said Tiffany, who is going to wait before even considering following her brother to the pro ranks.

As for the distance they travel for training -- that, too, is a lot. They primarily train at Team Chicago Boxing Club in Scottsdale Park, as well as the Harvey Boxing Club, where they began boxing.

The two even spar together, but mainly just to tune-up each other's techniques.

"We're 'Beauty and the Beast'," Jimmy said. "She's more side-to-side, like Floyd Mayweather or Sugar Ray Leonard -- a pretty style.

"Me -- I'm not so pretty. I'm shorter than most of the guys I fight, so I've got to go right at them."
